Clickthinking nominated for a Webby –“the web’s highest honour”

Cape Town – 28 April 2009 : Cape Town based company Clickthinking have been nominated for a Webby Award for the company’s work on &Beyond (andbeyond.com ). The Webbys are described as “the internet’s highest honour” by the New York Times and “the only award show for Internet sites that matters” by the Los Angeles Times.
“Nominees like Clickthinking are setting the standard for innovation and creativity on the Internet,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. “It is an incredible achievement to be selected among the best from the nearly 10,000 entries we received this year.”
Joanne Reidy, Creative Director at Clickthinking who will represent Clickthinking at the awards in New York should &Beyond win says: “&Beyond has been a client of ours for close to 10 years and is a pioneering company with global ambition and great people. Clickthinking faces stiff competition with other nominees like LonelyPlanet.com, Kayak.com, TripKick.com and BudgetTravel.com..
Past Webby winners include Amazon.com, eBay, Yahoo!, iTunes, Google, BBC News, CNN, MSNBC, The New York Times, Facebook, Wikipedia, Flickr, ESPN, Comedy Central, and The Onion News Network.
The Webbys will be announced on the 5th of May with the main Gala event being held on the 8th of June in New York. Winners will be able to share one of the Webby’s famous five-word speeches with the world. Past Webby Award winners - and their speeches - include Al Gore (”Please don’t recount this vote.”), Beastie Boys (”Can anyone fix my computer?”), and Stephen Colbert (”Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.”).
The Webby nomination follows closely on the heels of Clickthinking winning the Web Analytics Championship in July 2008 beating some of the very best usability and site performance companies in Europe and North America.
The Webby winners will be announced in New York on 5 May 2009.
